‘Future Living, Future Life’ at Edinburgh Napier University will be a multi-disciplinary facility designed to deliver a cutting-edge working environment. A suite of laboratories will act as a test-bed for Edinburgh Napier’s innovations, from new types of media and intelligent devices to the very latest in nano-enhanced fabrics and independent wellbeing monitoring. The 2009 lab – named ICEcube – will be the first development in the project. It will feature wall- and table-mounted multi-touch high definition screens, evolving artworks, biometric security, and advanced technology cameras and sound systems for virtual communication. The futuristic facility will be a unique concept for Scotland, utilising leading technologies which are still extremely rare worldwide.
